I lived here briefly in the late-70s, I've seen sleeping areas on Navy Submarines that were bigger than this.

Back when I was a teenager (circa 1966-67), this was a decent, respectable place to shop, grab a bite to eat, or hang out with friends.
Today? Not so much. Westfield really dropped the ball with the place. It seems so run down, like nothings been updated since the 60's. They really should tear this place down and start over from scratch.

Cabrillo National Monument is where you will find the ''drip'', a solar-powered birdbath that attracts so many species of birds. A BIrd Watcher's Haven and learn about all the wildlife if you come here. Listen for birds, opossums, and foxes on the Bayside Trail, another good place to go. Check for Jays and Squirrels, as well as lizards, hummingbirds, and warblers, by the picnic area basin.

NIce wildlife-watching place. Many waterbirds can be found, such as scaup, bufflehead, teal, Western and Eared/Horned Grebes, Hawks, thrashers, finches and sparrows, as well as Marbled Godwits, Phoebes, and rabbits. Also commonly seen during winter, spring, and fall are Peregrine Falcons. Very goo place to walk around. Dogs can go off-leash in off leash grass area! (It's fenced in, of course, so not to disturb native habitat) Remember, Fiesta Island is in Mission Bay protected IBA (IMPORTANT BIRD AREA) so tread lightly.

Nice place to birdwatch with a large lake-like slough and north channel. Wildlife seen often includes opossums, egrets, herons, ducks, grebes, and many land birds such as meadowlark, finches, warblers and hummingbirds in the south bushes near the ponds. Clapper Rails are also present but rarer. Famosa Slough is near to the San Diego River Estuary and flows into it by a large pipe, often seen when the tide is low at the estuary.

My old vessel, I know her electrical wiring like the back of my hand.
I spent many years on this ship (1984-1987), one of the better ships in the Navy's fleet at the time.

Back in the 70's, when I was in the Navy, we'd go down here and get drunk when we got into port. It was infamous for being really seedy, full of tattoo parlors, "titty bars", burlesque theaters, etc.
It's changed quite a bit since then, but honestly, the crowd that comes here is still the same.
