Remember the wooden bridge? I remember some pissed off CC throwing this poor recruit off the bridge into the boat channel because he was marching out of step. He survived.

I really wish the people in this complex had any respect for their neighbors. I get wanting to have fun, but playing your techno crap music till 4am is a bit ridiculous. If I could inflict any pain in your crappy lives, I will. I've already called the cops numerous times and will continue until they shut you down.

  • The Corky McMillin Companies, A Place In Time (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
I was there in 84 and I totally agree with you. I live up in Orange County and get to go by there often like today. I took some pictures of the interior of the barracks that are still standing. Mine were torn down for a parking lot across from the Grinder. I remember having to go to Marching Party with the Seal's a couple of times due to my company getting hits on the barracks. The luxury of a Master At Arms. The pictures I took do not do the place justice what so ever. I remember everything being so polished and the brass sparkling. I watched the place go down piece by piece. Then on the NTC side they bulldozed the bowling alley. That was the first place I went to after graduation. Not to mention the Enlisted Men’s Club which is now a Tru-Value Hardware store. They even tore down my barracks and "C" school on the NTC side and made it housing. Too sad!! It really does hurt deep inside to see this. I wonder where all my shipmates are today.

  • East Village, neoplanet (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
I live and work in East Village and walk around and talk to proprietors a lot. Gentrified is certainly not the right term. It is being developed and improved. Petco Park was just the beginning and was built nearly a decade ago, opened in 2004. There is a lot going on in East Village. Many new high-rise buildings, restaurants, and a hotel or two. Still, there is a long way to go to make it a vibrant neighborhood. There are still many empty lots and old buildings in disrepair. I'm not sure whether the city has plans for the area as it seems they do little integrated planning at all, but it is a growing neighborhood with a lot of potential. I would love to see innovative residents, entrepreneurs and developers build a healthy, interesting, and thriving community in the east village of San Diego. For anyone who wants to do this, I'm on board!

wwwbalboaschool.com - This is a great place for children to learn. Each child is treated fairly, they encourage creativity, all the students learn to love writing, children are encouraged to bring netbooks or laptops to school, they have a great intern program and they work hard to make sure each student makes progress.
