    The owner is still alive and has all the necessary permits to operate the restaurant; however, he chooses not to. Rumor has it that he closed it in protest over the transformation of Hillcrest into a gay/lesbian neighborhood, but that cannot be confirmed. Rumors also to the owner's connections to the Italian mafia circulate, but again, those cannot be confirmed. In the end, it's a rundown eyesore that eventually gets ignored.

    It's one of the few remaining old-fashioned used book stores. A great place to just browse. The people there are very knowledgeable and if you ask quite helpful. You never know what you might find.
